State Deputy Message – Weekly Briefing May31st

Brother Knights,

MEMORIAL DAY - Monday, May 31, 2021

This Memorial Day, as parades and memorial gatherings that honor our fallen veterans resume in a limited fashion across the state, all brother knights should take time to unite to recognize and value our military services. It was with unwavering love for our country that those who chose to serve and protect our freedoms made their personal sacrifices. In your remembrance today, think those that have served and are currently servicing to protect our country.

The NH State Council’s McGivney Canonization Rosary Program asks councils and individual members to host canonization rosaries to honor Blessed Michael McGivney. The success of our goal with the McGivney Beatification Rosary, to pray over 2,020 rosaries by Founder's Day, has inspired us to continue forward for the cause toward Sainthood with the McGivney Canonization Rosary. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email and link to join the webinar.

122nd State Convention Updates

Due to a delay from the breakfast before the Saturday Morning Session of the Convention, I cut out most of the State Deputies Annual Report. Use this link State Deputy Annual Report

to see the full report of “firsts”, as we navigated through the 12 months since our “Virtual Convention” last April 2020.

Closing remarks from the State Deputy Annual Report.

Under trying times, we found ways to stay active with all the changes from Supreme and world changing events. I feel the strength and character of our Councils in New Hampshire can continue to find ways to be successful today, and in the future. I would like to personally express my heartfelt thoughts and prayers to those dealing with COVID-19 related issues. It is in time of crisis like this that the Order’s watch words of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity are exemplified by my Brother Knights.

Along with our Supreme Council, your NH State Council is closely watching COVID-19 developments. Supreme issued an order wide resolution, authorizing councils to utilize virtual meetings to conduct council business and election of officers. We have new guidelines under the “Leave No Neighbor Behind” program to safely stay active under current restrictions. Councils are being creative, making changes, trying new things. The multiple opportunities for council growth (church drives, prospect pages, online membership, and the new online combined degree) are all designed to grow your council and support the needs of your church and community. Embrace the future, the future is now!

I want to thank all my State Officers, District Deputies, State Directors, State Chairman, Grand Knights, and you the Brothers that make being a Knight of Columbus, and your State Deputy, a pleasure to serve. A special thanks to our wives, Peggy, Janice, Anita, Darlene, Jolene, Vicki, Sandy, & Mary McCarthy. A special prayer for Anna Mele. Without these ladies backing and support none of us would be here. So, thank you, thank you, thank you. And so many more, my sincere thanks.

I want to thank my wife Sue, who has supported this journey through thick and thin. She has taken on the mantle of leadership as well. Adjusting to changes with every twist and turn, hosting the Hospitality Room for this convention. Without her, I certainly would not be here. Sue, I love you & I thank you.

In closing, Supreme Knight Carl Anderson stated at the State Deputies Mid-Year Meeting in December, “Not to make the Knights of Columbus great again, but to keep the Knights of Columbus great, now and into the future.”

Vivat Jesus!
State Deputy Joseph J Kowalik III
