State Deputy's Message - 05/18/2020

Worthy Brother Knights,2019 2020 State Emblem 200x200

Excerpts from Bishop Libasci’s Letter:

Governor Chris Sununu extended the State Stay at Home Order. The diocese has been closely monitoring the data from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services. Although there are positive signs the Coronavirus, also known as COVID19, has not spread to the level it could have if the stay-at-home order were not in place, the data shows that significant numbers of our fellow citizens continue to test positive and die from this virus. Our neighbors in Massachusetts also are experiencing a greater impact as the virus spreads much faster to our south.

For these reasons, at this time, I am keeping in place the decisions already implemented in this Diocese, including the suspension of the public celebration of the Mass. But in the meantime, preparations are actively underway for when we will gather together again, including how to maintain social distancing, how to limit capacity, and the procedures for the distribution of Holy Communion. Together, may we look forward not only to preparations for gradual reentry attentive to public health but also to a glorious reunion and reengagement into the Mystery of Faith. STAR Council Opportunities: District Deputies and KofC Insurance Field Agents work together.

Friday, the State Council held a GoToMeeting with 42 brothers including District Deputies, Grand Knights, and KofC Insurance Field Agents to plan for online Fraternal Benefits Nights. Councils that comply and participate in these Benefits Nights will satisfy the Founders Award requirement for this fraternal year. A win-win solution for both. The one time opportunity to make STAR council THIS year can close out your fraternal year on a positive note!

Need online meeting assistance? I can host online meetings for councils and districts. Call me for details.

Stay safe, minimize risks. God Bless.

Fraternally,

Joseph J Kowalik III, State Deputy

4thDegreeDue to the Coronavirus and Statewide health restrictions, our June 13th 4th Degree has been postponed and is slated to be rescheduled for a date in August. Please stay tuned for a rescheduled date, to be announced soon.

The 2020-2021 Fraternal Year will soon be upon us.  During this month of May, local councils and assemblies will be holding their election of officers.  I want to remind the current Grand Knights and Faithful Navigators to submit their council and assembly’s directory information immediately after the elections.  The deadline for council and assembly directory submissions for inclusion in the State Council Directory handbook is June 15th.

Worthy sirs and Catholic gentlemen,

Over the past several weeks we have been experiencing a very unusual situation with regard to this Covid 19 virus.  I hope that this message finds you all in great health and avoiding the virus. Our point here is to give you a quick update on how to bring new members to the degrees via a virtual distancing method.

Supreme Council will be conducting virtual degrees periodically online.  Grand Knights and District Deputies will be advised well in advance and there is a specific instruction regarding how to get your candidates invited to the ceremonial.  It's pretty easy to follow so I encourage you to give it a try.  The usual Form 100 membership document has been placed online in the officer's section.  A new tab was created to make it easier to find.  Just get your prospect to that space, complete the required information and then stand by for an invitation.  Once the candidate logs on to the ceremonial Supreme will forward the Form 100 information to your Financial Secretary for recording in the Council Roll. It's really simple so give it a try.

Due to the uncertainty surrounding the ongoing global events surrounding COVID-19 many local Councils need to stay focused on handling the “normal” council business. Many activities can still take place, but through creative use of online applications that are available.

I am sure many of your councils have been actively assisting your Brother Knights, parishioners, and your communities during the current Covid-19 pandemic. I would like to put together a press release highlighting several of them.

MadonnaThe 2020 KCIC program documents are now available on the NH State Council Web Site. There are *nine (9) KCIC documents available to provide you all of the information needed to begin your 2020 KCIC Program in your council.

My Brother Knights, during these trying times there is a greater need to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Some of you may be saying how can I go toConfessional Confession when my church is closed?

Fellow Christians, the inevitable has happened. The trailer that transports the Creche every year to the State House has broken beyond repair. The display and trailer are all one unit. Council 112 in Concord and the Concord Grange have been placing the Creche in front of the state house for 50 plus years.

All submissions for the weekly briefing must be submitted to weeklyupdates [AT] nhknight [DOT] org and received by no later than the 3:00 pm deadline on Sunday in order to be considered for each Monday’s issue.
