Food for Families Video

Worthy State Deputy,

Throughout the years, Knights of Columbus councils have been extremely generous in providing support to food banks, food pantries, and soup kitchens. As a continued effort to encourage support for these important institutions, we are asking that all jurisdictions post the attached video of the West Virginia Food Drive on their jurisdiction’s home page and/or social media.

Feeding the hungry and giving a drink to the thirsty are both Corporal Works of Mercy. Yet, in America, 1 in 6 people still face the challenge of being hunger every day. In Canada, over 850,000 people turn to food banks for help; more than one-third are children and youth. We can make a difference.

Councils and their families looking for activities to support local pantries and food banks could:

  • Cook a recipe that can be easily frozen, make a double batch, and donate one to a local food pantry or soup kitchen.
    · Donate time and resources to a local organization and distribute food to the needy.
    · Simply make meals and hand them out to the homeless in their community. (This is an especially good family activity.)
    · More

Since 2012, K of C councils have donated more than 21.5 million pounds of food and more than $10.7 million dollars to help feed hungry! Please continue to encourage your councils to participate in giving aid to their local food banks, pantries, and soup kitchens by distributing this video.

Sincerely,
