4th Degree

Bishop James E. Healy Province

District of New Hampshire

DistrictMasterThe 4th Degree is a Patriotic Degree.  For most men who follow Jesus, there comes a time when duty extends beyond our own lives, beyond how we lead our families, and into how we serve our fellow man. That's what the Knights of Columbus is all about. The Patriotic Degree allows knights to take this one step further. "Sir Knight" is more than a title. It's an honor.

This section of the NH State Council Website is intended to provide information, ideas and tools for our local Faithful Navigators to assist them in leading their Assemblies to foster a spirit of patriotism and to encourage active Catholic citizenship.

More than 20 men from across NH were exemplified into the Patriotic (4th) Degree of the Knights of Columbus during a ceremony at St. Joseph Church in Claremont on Saturday, November 18. A Mass at St. Marys Church, which included a K of C Honor Guard nearly two dozen strong, followed the exemplification. At an evening reception for the new Sir Knights and their families, held at the Claremont Senior Center, Class Honoree Very Rev. Shawn Therrien, V.F., Pastor of St. Josephs and St. Marys, spoke of how living out our Catholicism -- giving of ourselves for others and putting their needs before our own raises the awareness of the needs of our nations citizens, which is inherently patriotic.

Adding to the spirit of the day, Knights wives collected and sorted toiletries and personal care items, which will be delivered to the VA Hospital in White River Junction, VT, for distribution.

FrMcGivney 002Worthy Faithful Navigators and Grand Knights;

Donations continue to trickle in for the chaplains fund. As of today we have recorded donations of $1,116,346.28 This leave us a balance of $83,653.72

Like you, we looking forward to reaching our goal of 1.2 million and closing out this campaign.

I know that you continue to promote this program during regular meetings and activities. I am asking each of you to again contact your members, inform them just how close we are to fulfilling our obligation to the Military Archdiocese USA in providing the necessary funds to assist in recruiting young men to the Priesthood to serve our deserving men and women in uniform. Maybe you could simply pass the hat or do a 50/50 raffle if this activity is not in your present budget. Any amount will help make the goal.

This is a major concern for our military members. They need Priest's on the battle field.

God bless and again, thank you.

Joel Plante, District Master
